Interactions & Allergies

Lacteeze does not have any side effects. Lacteeze contains no drugs and nothing is absorbed by the body. Any excess enzyme is simply eliminated through the digestive system.

Lacteeze does not interact with any medication or alternative treatments. It does not contain any drugs and any lactase that is not used is simply eliminated from the body through the digestive system.

Lactase enzymes are normally produced in the body naturally. If you take more lactase enzymes then you need to digest the amount of dairy eaten, any excess is simply eliminated through the digestive system. Nothing is absorbed by the body so it is not possible to “overdose” on Lacteeze.

Yes. All Lacteeze products are gluten free. In fact, there is a strong link between Coeliacs Disease and lactose intolerance. Coeliac’s Disease causes damage to the villi in the small intestine which is where lactase enzymes are produced. Hence many people with Coeliac’s Disease find they also suffer from lactose intolerance.

This is why many people still suffer digestive symptoms even when they are on strict gluten-free diets. As the villi heal the body will once again be able to produce lactase enzymes and symptoms should subside.

No. Lacteeze is only suitable for people with lactose intolerance. Dairy or milk allergies are caused by an allergic reaction to a protein component in dairy, and usually require complete avoidance of any dairy. We strongly recommend that you see your healthcare professional if you suspect you have a dairy allergy.

Lacteeze products are dairy, gluten, egg, and nut free. Lacteeze drops are derived from yeast and Lacteeze tablets and caplets are derived from corn, so should be avoided by people with allergies to those ingredients. People who are allergic to flavourings can choose the Lacteeze flavouring that best suits them – peppermint, strawberry or vanilla.

It is exceptionally rare but it is possible to have an allergic reaction to the actual lactase enzymes. If this happens you can do a skin prick test using a slurry of the tablet to be sure that this was the cause of your reaction. If you have any form of reaction, however mild, you should avoid taking Lacteeze altogether unless you have clearance from your healthcare provider.

If you suffer from any allergies we recommend reading the full list of ingredients in Our Products section.
