General FAQs

What is Lacteeze?

Lacteeze is a digestive supplement that aids the digestion of lactose in milk and dairy products. It is not a drug or medicine. The active ingredient is lactase which is a safe enzyme that occurs naturally within the small intestine.

What is Lactose Intolerance?

Lactose Intolerance is caused when the body cannot completely digest the lactose in dairy that has been eaten, leading to the symptoms of excess gas, bloating, abdominal discomfort or diarrhoea. This is caused by a shortage of the digestive enzyme lactase in the small intestines. Read more about the symptoms and causes of Lactose Intolerance here.

How do I know I'm lactose intolerant?

Many people suspect they are lactose intolerant because they suffer digestive problems after eating dairy. If you’re not sure whether you’re lactose intolerant you can try one of our trial packs of Lacteeze. As there are no drugs in Lacteeze and nothing is absorbed by the body, it is perfectly safe to try Lacteeze. As the lactase enzymes in Lacteeze are solely for the purpose of digesting lactose, if your symptoms remain the same when taking Lacteeze it is very likely they are caused by something other than lactose intolerance. Your GP can also organise tests to confirm whether you are lactose intolerant or not.

Which Lacteeze product is best suited to me and my child?

Lacteeze has a range of tablets, caplets and drops suited to every member of the family, whatever their age and whatever their taste preferences. If you go to Our Products you can compare each product and decide which one is best suited for your needs.

Will I notice an improvement after taking Lacteeze for the first time?

Most people notice an improvement from the first time they try Lacteeze. However, as there may be excess lactic acid and gas in the digestive system some symptoms may remain for a week or slightly more. After the lactic acid and gas has naturally dissipated, the full effects of taking Lacteeze can be seen.

I'm very nervous about trying Lacteeze in case they don’t work for me. What's the best way to test them out?

The symptoms of lactose intolerance can be very unpleasant, so we understand your apprehension. You can buy one of our trial packs as an economical way to test the product (either Lacteeze Extra Strength 10 tablets or Lacteeze Ultra 8 caplets). We recommend you start with a higher than normal dose to start (this is perfectly safe as Lacteeze contains no drugs and nothing is absorbed by the body). Also start with a small serve of dairy. If you find that Lacteeze does not improve your symptoms it is unlikely that you suffer from lactose intolerance, and we recommend you see your GP to investigate other possible causes.

How do I know how many Lacteeze I will need?

The number of tablets/caplets you need will depend partly on how severe your lactose intolerance is, and how much dairy you consume. These factors make it impossible to be absolutely specific about dosage for an individual. However, the doses suggested on the packets are suitable for the majority of people. When starting taking Lacteeze we recommend you take a higher dose than you believe is needed, then once you are symptom free reduce the amount of Lacteeze taken until you find the correct dose for you.
